This article started by discussing when the Tics onset starts and when it is at its peak. their onset in childhood typically around the age of 6 or 7, with tics at their worst between the ages 8 and 12 years old" (Whittington, 2016). this article mainly focused on youth and children and how Tics impact their lives. it also mentioned TS is often with another disorder. " TS is frequently comorbid with other psychiatric conditions including ADHD, anxiety, OCD, autism" (Whittington, 2016).

The first article I looked at focused on effective treatments for Tourettes. "Both medication and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) have shown effective treatments" (Oconnor et al., 2009). It talked about the different medications that have been used to help tics. It also mentioned the goal of CBT and what type of CBT has been used in the past.

CBT with habit reversal training. First, the therapist will train the client to be more aware of their ticks and the feelings they get when they are about to happen (Martinelli,2024). the next step is helping the client come up with a compelling responce or behavior that prevents the tic from happening (Martinelli,2024)
Statistics
Tourette syndrome affects 1-2% of children and young adults (Whittington, 2016). The onset of it is ages 6 or 7 (Whittington, 2016). The symptoms are at their worst at ages 8 and 12 (Whittington, 2016).
