Conclusion

Constructivism and the Teacher´s Role in Teaching Models

The student as the protagonist, and responsible for incrementing his knowledge is: active, participatory, innovative, reflective, and critical. The most important thing is that the student decides what and how to learn, and the teacher becomes a facilitator or mediator in the process of learning. Teaching-learning results in the student appropriating his knowledge, and generating meaningful learning integrated into his person.

The constructivist theory arises since 1960, with proposals based on solid arguments and improvements in learning.

However, it continued with the traditional model, in which the teacher was the owner of knowledge, and the student played a passive role, becoming the recipient of the transmitted knowledge. Not until the new millennium is constructivism implemented in the new educational models, providing considerable progress in education, awakening great interest, and taking a complete turn. The student becomes a protagonist and makes him responsible for building his knowledge.
