#Look around,it´s your world
environmental issues
Hello, in this presentation i´ll talk about about the topic #Look aroud it´s your world, especially about environmental issues.
Introduction
What are enviornmental issues?
Environmental issues are the effects of the impact caused by humans on the planet, these problems can affect both natural ecosystems such as human health.Some examples of this are:
- Climate change;
- Pollution;
- Deforestation and Biodiversity loss;
- Overpopulation;
Climate change is a consequence of global warming. These changes are mainly caused by the burning of fossil fluels, which generate gas emissions (such as CO2 and methane) causing a greenhouse effect that will increase the earth´s temperatures. One of the most serious consequences of climate change is related to the frequency that climate disasters such as droughts, stroms, floods,... has been increasing drastically. A recent example of this are the floods in Valencia which caused a lot of destruction and many human casualties.
Climate change
- Water pollution- The main water polluants include bacterias, sewage waste, plastics, fertilizers, pesticides and even radioative substances, but the most common are human activities. Water pollution has a negative impact on the environment causing diseases, loss os biodiversity and lack of drinking water.
Two good examples of pollution are:
- Air pollution- Pollution from humans activities also releases large quantities of toxic gases shuch as: the burning of fossil fluels, vehicles and industrialization. This problem affect human health, air quality, climate change,... . A good example of where air poluttion reaches extreme levels, is in China, where people have to wear mascara on the streat.
Pollution
There are many factors that contribute to deforestation, the main one is human activity, which includes agricultural expansion, mineral exploration, fires and construction of cities. Deforestation contributes to climate change, disruptions in the water cycle and loss of biodiversity.Biodiversity refers to living beings such as animal and plants, wich are increasingly being threatened by environmental problems, placing many species in danger of extinction.
Deforestation and biodiversity loss
Overpopulation
Population growth has been increasing more and more over the years. This growth causes a greater demand for natural resources such as food, water, and energy. This excessive exploration of resouces causes many environmental issues, some mencioned previously, but also others such as the increase in the mortality rate in mainly poorer countries due to lack of resources and conditions for life.
Countries with the greatest environmental issues
Among the countries most affected by environmental issues, China and USA lead the way, being the 2 largest producers of CO2, but not only that.
- China leads the list of the most polluting countries because it is overpopulated, emits a lot of greenhouse gases and degrades the air quality, large quantities of water are polluted due to the release of industrial and personal waste and there is a lot of deforestation to build large cities.
- The USA, being the second most poluting country, has basisically the same problem that China, althought it isn´t as significant as it.
Recently, people have become more aware of environmental issues, and many take small actions every day to help prevent them, such as:
- Save water;
- Consume only what is necessary;
- Separete waste from organic and recyclabe materials;
- Switch to renewable energy;
- Use public transports;
- Sensibelization of future generation;
- Creation of laws to reduce the environmental impact.
What can we do to avoid environmental issues
In conclusion, environmental issues are an increasingly threatening reality, for us, for plants, animals and the world as we know it. That´s why we should do something while we still have time, we can take small actions every day that will make a difference.If we don´t do it now, then it will be too late.
Conclusion
Barack Obama
"We are the first generation to feel the impact of climate change, and the last generation that can do something about it."
Thank you!
