We use conditional sentences to talk about the consequences of things that happen...

They have 2 parts: IF CLAUSE and MAIN CLAUSE.

THERE ARE 4 CONDITIONALS:

THE ZERO CONDITIONAL

THE FIRST CONDITIONAL

THE SECOND CONDITIONAL

THE THIRD CONDITIONAL

They are very easy!!!

CONDITIONAL

We use ZERO CONDITIONAL to talk about things that are usually true.

example:

If I am thirsty, I drink water.

HOW IS IT FORMED???

IF I AM THIRSTY , I DRINK WATER.

IF + SUBJECT + PRESENT SIMPLE , SUBJECT + PRESENT SIMPLE.

CONDITIONAL

We use the FIRST CONDITIONAL to talk about things that may happen in the FUTURE or to make PREDICTIONS. POSSIBILITY

example:

If I have time, I will go to the cinema.

HOW IS IT FORMED???

IF I HAVE TIME , I WILL GO TO THE CINEMA.

IF + SUBJECT + PRESENT SIMPLE , SUBJECT + WILL / WON'T

If you don't eat the soup now, it will get cold.

NOTE

IF can be exchanged for WHEN.

If it rains, I get wet. = When it rains, I get wet.

Example:

The order of both parts of the sentence can be changed.

Example:

If it rains, I get wet.

I get wet, if it rains.

CONDITIONAL

HOW IS IT FORMED???

IF I STUDIED MORE , I WOULD GO TO THE CINEMA.

IF + SUBJECT + PAST SIMPLE , SUBJECT + WOULD / WOULDN'T

We use the SECOND CONDITIONAL to talk about HYPOTHETICAL things or GIVE ADVICES

example:

If you walked to school , you would get more exercise.

IF + SUBJECT + PAST PERFECT, SUBJECT + WOULD / WOULDN'T HAVE PAST PARTICIPLE
