Auditory hallucination

Delusions

Their speech patterns are also disorganized, whereby the narrators make abrupt shifts between ideas and emotions. In "The Tell-Tale Heart," for instance, the narrator abruptly shifts from having a calm tone to intense nervousness in telling his story.

The narrator in "The Tell-Tale Heart" is delusional because, although he sincerely believes the eye of the old man possesses some sort of supernatural power which brings him harm, this fact in itself does not justify the intensity of his fixation furthermore, deluding his mind upon it.

In "The Tell-Tale Heart," the narrator believes he hears the heart of the man who is now dead and buried beat louder and louder; however, this is impossible. Now, the narrator reveals to the reader the actual "voices" or auditory hallucinations.

Supportive Therapy

Social Rehab

Cbt

This might help the narrator with decision-making and planning.

Given the narrator’s obsession with the old man and his inability to function rationally, social support would be critical.

CBT would likely focus on helping the narrator understand and confront the reality of his delusions
