AI in Sports Performance
I think AI will and should continoue to be used in the future. It provides many different insights and capabilities that a human just can not do. Now I also think AI needs to be used carefully and humans can not rely on it too much. It is important common sense is used as AI is still technolagy and can be wrong at times.
My thoughts on AI
In this article it talks about current UFC fighter Bo Nickal and how he is using AI to prepare and scout opponents for fights. The article covers how Nickal was on famous UFC commentator and worker Joe Rogan’s podcast, and he mentioned he recently started using Ai to prepare for fights. He talks about how his past fights, AI and Chat GPT was able to produce game plans that he used and they have been successful. Nickal is undefeated so all of his game plans from AI have worked so far.

AI making game plans
Reguardless of the negatives of AI it is going no where in the future and will only get bigger. People will continue to rely on it more and more as it gives them a way to get better information faster. Many people would say the main reason for this is because the positives out weigh the negatives and while this could be true its important to remember there can be more postives but the negatives can have a bigger impact. Reguardless with AI here to stay its important to be careful with it but use it to your advantage.
AI in the future
There are many good things about AI in sports. It can be leaned on in moments of uncertainty and provide clarity or reason in moments when that is lacking. It can save time for both players and coaches and can also help both perform there job better. It can provide coaches with clear and more advanced data to apply to the game and use data to give players things they can work on. Overall there are mnay benifits of using AI in sports and it will no dount continoue to grow in the future.
Positives of AI
One great point the article makes is how AI can take hours of video from players, games, practices etc, and find the key important clips to then have a player or coach watch. When you have hundreds of players this can be extremely useful and saves hours of time. Another important note is that a lot of time players and coaches need information in shorts amount of time. They need some of that information the day of and AI can help them do this.

AI saving time
In the source below it talks about how different AI sensors can detect injurys before anyone else would realize they are a issue. One example it gives is in the NFL they use AI sensors on players to measure speed and how hard players are hit among other things. They can use this to see if a player was hit hard if he has a concussion. Without these sensors the player may stay in the game and the concussion could get worse but with the sensor he can get it tested.

How does AI prevent injurys
This source talks about how AI can comprehend and use tons of different data in a matter of seconds to while it would take humans much longer. This can be useful because when you have data that may negatively impact someone AI can use it and find a solution before the possible injury while that same thing may take humans much longer to realize and not be found until after an injury happens

Preventing Injurys
There are many negatives of AI that impact sports. One big one to consider is the fact that it completly eliminates the human aspect when it gives you data. For example when the AI gives a medical plan it is based off patterns and past data for how that specific player is feeling. The issue is you can provide AI with information on how a player is feeling but only that actaul player knows what it feels like and they made feel they need something slightly different than the plan AI will give. AI can also provide data and privicy issues as more and more technolagy is used.
Negatives of AI
One of the biggest things I learned was just how involved AI already is in the world of sports. I started this thinking AI was more of a up and coming thing that was still being tested by many different people. WHile this is true and it is being tested AI is and already has had a major impact on sports. Teams of all ages and of all different sports are using it in many creative ways that they feel can be benificial.
Things I learned
One negative of using AI to scout is it may look for things that a coach is not interested in. For example if AI is watching film it may pick up that a player is good at scoring so it would identify that specific player as good. However is the coach is looking for defense then this AI example would not help the coach and in fact do just the opposite.
Negative of AI Scouting
One downside of AI is it can me overprotective causing players to get upset. For example if a player takes a hard hit and AI is telling people they should be looked at the player will be forced to come out of the game, but if this is a key spot and a teams best player is forced to leave the game when they feel fine it will create issues. Players work years for one moment so if they feel fine but are still forced to leave the game they will not trust AI in the future and be unhappy.
