Introduction: What is the Past Simple?
The past simple tense is used to describe actions or states that were completed at a specific point in the past. Example: "I visited my friend yesterday."
How to identify the past simple?
Regular verbs in the past simple in English are created by adding the ending -ed to the base form of the verb in the infinitive. If the root form already ends in "e", we just add -d. Verbs in English in the past simple do not change depending on the subject, but always remain the same.
1. Verbs ending in a consoant:
- Work - Worked
- Play - Played
- Call - Called
2. Verbs ending in "e":
- Live - Lived
- Love - Loved
- Like - Liked

Negative Form Structure: Subject + did + not + main verb + complement Example: I did not (didn’t) walk to the store.
Interrogative Form Structure: Did + subject + main verb + complement Example: Did you walk to the store?
