Parts of the plant
Today, we're going to use Genialy to explore the parts of a plant and understand what each part does. Open the Genialy website link your teacher gives you to access the activity on parts of a plant. GOAL: Students will learn the different parts of a plant. DIRECTIONS: On the slide, you will see 6 buttons (or hotspots) with different plant parts: Roots, Stem, Leaves, Flowers, and a rain cloud. Each button has information about that specific part. There will also be an INVISIBLE BUTTON located on the YELLOW CENTER of the flower. How to Use the Buttons: Click each button to learn about the parts of the plant. The invisible button has a video you must watch in order to answer some of the questions. WATCH THE VIDEO FIRST. To watch the video, click on the YELLOW center of the flower then press the RED button to watch. Next, click on the FIVE different buttons to read and answer questions about parts of the plant. As you explore, take notes or draw each plant part in your notebook. Write one sentence or fact about what each part does for the plant.
Directions
Petals
Petals are the colorful parts of the flower that attract bees, butterflies, and other animals to come and visit the flower. They help protect the inside parts of a flower.
Roots of a plant
The roots have two jobs: they take in water and nutrients from the soil and keep the plant steady in the ground. Roots help the plant grow strong!
Rain helps plants grow by providing them with water, which they use to make food and stay healthy. The roots soak up the rainwater, and it travels to all parts of the plant to help it grow strong and produce flowers or fruit.
The stem
The stem of a flower helps transport water and nutrients from the roots to other parts of the plant.
