In bulgarian, March 1st marks the celebration of Baba Marta, a festival that welcomes spring. People believe that ' grandma march' brings good weather and the end of winter. The most famous tradition is exchanging martenitsa, which are bracelets of decorations made of red and white threads. These color have special meanings: red represents life and health, while white stands for purity and happiness.
