Your Obedient Servent by Hamilton talk about Aaron Burr being so upset that Hamilton endorsed Jefferson as president instead of him. Burr sends Hamilton letters explaining very politely that he blames Hamilton for every time he has not gotten what he wanted. He then challenges him to a duel. In paragraph 35 Mary Maloney clubbed her husband in the back of his head, promptly killing him. All that rage she has built up over the year, bubbled up and poured out of her. Just as Burr did with Hamilton during their duel. This song depicts anger and jealousy, and tiredness of being put to the side. All those years obeying her husband, carrying his child, caring for the house, for him, all for him wanting to leave her. Those years wasted on loving someone who doesn't love her back.
Motive by Ariana Grande is about a guy wanting to get with her. But she keeps asking him "what's your motive" because she has this feeling that he isn't telling her something. The tone is very paradoxical as it is untrusting, and upbeat while she sings about the untrusting nature of the man trying to talk to her.In paragraph 25 Mary Maloney's husband won't let her get him anything, prompting an uneasy feeling from Mary. She moves "uneasily" and starts to feel "frightened" because her husband is acting strange.
Sweet but Psycho by Ava Max is about a beautiful women known for being (for lack of a better saying) good in bed, but she is crazy. The song is very catchy and upbeat for such twisted lyrics. In paragraphs 50-53 it is shown that Mary Maloney has a few screws loose. By the way she just excepts that she kills her husband, whiout any remorse, or how talks to herself, trying to sound as normal as possible. Her voice sounded "peculiar", so she continues to talk to herself until her smile and voice were "better".
The Mariners Revenge Song by The Decemberists depicts a young man plagued by his mothers lover, being a drunkered and taking everything they had. When he is old enough and his mother his on her death bed, he vows that he will make him suffer for what he had done to him. The lover in the song is depicted as a whale, like Mobey Dicks white whale. This song is another bubbling up story of pent up rage. This song emanates unease, the decedent notes and quickening pase as well as the dark and twisted lyrics of the song. While in the song the man tortures his mother's lover, Mary Maloney just straight up kills her husband in praragraphs 42-43. Stating the blow might as well have been a "steel club".
Nine in the Afternoon by Panic! At The Disco describes a person depicting the love of their life, and it consumes them, filling their every thought. The tone of the overall song is very whimsical and light, depicting love and people cherishing each other. In paragraph seven Mary Moleney is describing her husband and how in love she is with him. She describes how "blissfull" this time of day is, when her husband comes home from work. She states that she loved to "luxuriate" in the presence of him.
Fear Nobody by Måneskin is a telling of owning one's individualality. The song makes you want to shout at the top of your lungs that you fear no one, it make you feel powerful and in control. Mary Moleney was very thoughtful in the wayof covering up the murder, by going to the grocery and acting happy and excited to see her husband after a long day. The way she acts when the detectives got to her home questioning and how she got the detective to eat the murder weapon. The way she began to "giggle" in paragraph 131, elicits that she doesn't fear anybody. The irony of one of the detectives saying the murder weapon was "probably right under our very noses" makes you laugh in knowing.
Routines in the Night by twenty one pilotes talks about a person just going through the motions, trying to make it through to the next day with no complications. The tone of the song elicits tiredness, and just wanting everything to be done and over, it's just the same old, same old.In paragraphs 73-76 Mary Maloney is trying to put on a facade of everything being fine. Since her husband was a detective, she knows the ins and outs of getting away with murder, she even practiced how she is going to act and speak, talking to herself and speaking for her husband after she killed him. She tells herself if she does everything "right" and "natural" she won't get caught.
