WHERE
Harrods is a British luxury department store located on Brompton Road in Knightsbridge, London, England. The store occupies a 5-acre (2 ha) site and has 330 departments covering 1.1 million sq ft (100,000 m2) of retail space. It is one of the largest and most famous department stores in the world.
THE STORY
Harrods was founded by Charles Henry Harrod in 1834. In the 20th century they bought other stores in the UK. In 1959, the British department store holding company, House of Fraser, bought Harrods. Later, in 1985, the Egyptian Mohamed Al-Fayed bought Harrods. In 2010, the store was sold to Qatar Investment Authority (QIA). This company invests the wealth of the Qatar royal family. Harrods is also known for their annual Christmas bears which are very popular.

Harrods is the home to over 3000 brands, shop designer fashion and accessories, luxury beauty, fine jewellery and watches, food, furniture and more – in-store and online. WHY HARRODS WAS FOUNDED
In 1849 Harrod realized that he could attract more customers curious about new and exotic foods in the emerging Knightsbridge district of the capital, so he moved the shop.
