Introduction:
Algae: Aquatic, photosynthetic organisms that perform the photosynthesis. They can be : Protists Eukaryotes Unicellular Multicellular Amoeba Seaweed Kelp
Characteristics of algae:
AutotrophicPhotosynthesis Unicellular / Multicellular Green algae,Brown algae, Red algae Absence of tissues Moisture Asexual / Sexual reproduction Pigments - Chlorophyll Symbiosis Coral and sometimes fungi relationship Spores
Three vital functions
Reproduction
Interaction
Nutrition
They are autotrophic organisms, so they have chlorophyll. Algae also have photoastotrophic type of nutrition "Photo" means "Light'. and this tells us that algae mate their own food using light.
Some single-celled algae move using their flagella but multicellular algae cart move on their own. Algae interactions are categorized into nutrient exchange, vaginal transduction and gene transfer
Algae regenerate by sexval reproduction, including male and demale gamates (sex cells), by asexually reproduction or by both ways. There are three types of asexval reproduction: Binary fission that is the process od one cell simply dividing into two, by spores and by fragmentation.
Clasification of algae
Red algae: They have reddish pigments and they persorm photosinthesis in much deeper water than green and brown algae.
Brown algae: They have brownish-green pigments. Most are multicellular and grow in marine habitats. They include help and seaweed Ithe largest protoctists). They live in the middle part of the ocean.
Green algae : They are green because of the pigments. They live in all types of aquadie environments. They store starch, a reserve substance found in plants. They are photosinthetic and they live on the top of e the ocean.
Harmful algae: Some algae produce harmful ilnesses when they repoduce excessively.Red ticles relase potent nat-ural spores that threaten wildlife, human health, aquatic ecosystems and fisheries.Example: Noctiluca scintillans.
Importance of algae
THey live in Aquatic ecosystems Main Producers of oxygen Green algae : Carotene, Food coloring Red algae : Agar, Thickener, Culture dishes other red : Carrageenan, Gelatin Capsules, Cheeses, rich in vitamines

Fun Facts
Algae can help us live on Mars!• - Algae coul be the tey to humans scrvival on Mars.Their ability to produce oxygen from the carbon dioxide (cO2) in Mars, atmosphere would help create a breathable environment. Additionally, used to make plastics and other building materials. This would adress two essential needs: dean air and shelter. In short, algae could provide a sustainble solution for life on Marshelping with both oxygen production and the creation of materials for infrastructure.
fun facts
" You can wear algae!• Researchers at UC San Diego (University al calibornia. San Diego) are creating algae-based plastic Blip-flops to help clean the oceans. The process involves growing algaes extracting sats and breaking them down into polymers, which are then molded into shoes. The current design uses about 50% aguerand the goal is to create shoes made entirely from renewable materials. This innovative aproach could ofter a suitable solution to both Plastic pollution and ocean conservation
fun facts
Algae can fuel cars, planes and More !• The Suture of travel is looking green, as algae can convent Sunlight and cO into energy stored in oils, which can be used as fuel for cars. Planes and trains. Unlike batteries. algae based fuel is tigntweignt and Sticient Sor long distance Slights. By 2030, it's estimated that algae- deriverd such could power nearly hall of all domestic Slights in the U.S, neping to reduce emissions from air travel.
