Claudette Colvin was the first black woman to refuse giving up her seat to a white woman on March 5th, 1955 the 1950s. At the time she was arrested, she was only 15. She went unnoticed in the activist world, especially considering how young she was, her being darkskin, aswell as pregnant.

After Claudettes arrest happened, she talked to an activist at the time, telling them that a 'lighter skinned' person should do it, hence where rosa Parks came in. Claudettes action went unnoticed, but she made the brave choice of believing in Rosa. "they like her" claudette said. Maybe then would her communities issues would finally be addressed. 9 months later, on december 1st, 1955 Rosa parks refused to moving to the back of the bus for a white woman and she was arrested shortly after. Not only did this cause public outrage, but it also struck the hearts of millions of black Americans tired of being treated unfairly. her action convinced people that this is the time of revolution. This lead to the mongommery bus boycott.

The mongomerry boycott was a long 13 month protest against segregation and racism in Alabama. Thankfully this ended well and it lead to the supreme court ruling public bus segregation unconstitutional! though this boycott was a major event in the civil rights movement, this is the main outcome of this particular boycott.
