Educational Curriculum Paridigm Shift
The outdated, skill-based structure of the current K-12 curriculum leaves many students unprepared for college and career demands (Hungerford-Kresser et al., 2022). High school graduates need critical thinking and problem-solving skills for college courses. The lack thereof leads to struggles with comprehension and completion. As a result, many students must pay for additional remedial classes, increasing their overall college expenses (Hungerford-Kresser et al., 2022). These deficits also hinder students’ ability to enter the workforce or secure internships and apprenticeships in technology-driven fields. Addressing these gaps through the teaching of problem-solving and critical thinking skills, rather than the current skill-based structure, will prepare students for future careers and college (Hungerford-Kresser et al., 2022).

Our brain is biologically prepared to learn through visual content. Almost 50% of our brain is involved in processing visual stimuli.
We are in the era of the digital information explosion. This causes our way of obtaining information to have changed, we have transitioned from traditional reading to a cognitive strategy based on navigation.
College REady (Gunn et al., 2020)
* Students possess the necessary critical thinking skills to have success with college curriculum (Gunn et al., 2020) * Student do not need to enroll remedial coursework on the college level. * Students are success in completing college coursework to graduation.
Measured by: *Colleges and institutions show a decrease in remedial course enrollment * Increase in graduation rates at colleges/universities * Increase in scores of intake or placement exams.
Here you can put a standout title
Pose a question or problem that makes the class think; it is the essential ingredient to maintain their attention. It is usually posed at the beginning of the topic to encourage critical thinking and participation.
- Plan and structure your content.
- Give visual weight to key points and main ones.
- Define secondary messages with interactivity.
- Establish a flow through the content.
- Measure the results.
Curriculum Design
- Skill-based: current design, teach to test, knowledge based (Gunn et al., 2020)
- Project based: project completion, real-world, student interest, product assessment, and interdisciplinary capabilities. (Kline et al., 2014)
- Currently measured by standardized testing . SAT scores, ACT scores, and other placement assessments (Gunn et al., 2020)
- Proposed measurement: Projects developed from close collaboration and networking with businesses and career organizations, STEM programs (Kline et al., 2014)
Measure by * Networking strength of high schools and the workplace. (Internships, apprenticeships) * Examine the hiring practices of various companies of graduating college students. * Examine the retention/turn-over rate of new employees that attained degrees within two years of hiring.
Career REadiness: (Ault et al., 2024; Bettencourt et al., 2022)
* Graduating seniors are aware of the type of career they would like to pursue. * Students know whether college degrees or vocational certifications are necessary for their career choice. * Student possess the soft skills necessary in the workplace.
Soft Skills * Communication *Collaboration * Project completion timely and efficiently. * Teamwork and problem-solving
Project-Based learning: Primary Level
- This video describes what project-based learning can look like in every classroom on the primary level (Hyman, 2015).
- It initiates in a classroom for students labeled gifted, but can translate into every classroom with every student (Hyman, 2015).

Did you know that Genially allows you to share your creation directly, without the need for downloads? Ready for students to visualize it on any device and learn anywhere.
Visual content is a cross-cutting and universal language, like music. We are able to understand images from millions of years ago, even from other cultures.
