A gap year is basicly a year you "take off" before you go to college so you can spend that year doing whatever you find fitting.

Higher education is basically a way to get a degree or even a doctorate, and it can really open up a lot of opportunities for your career and personal growth. Sure, in some places, you can get higher education for free, but in most countries, you gotta pay tuition fees. This can put a heavy load on students, pushing a lot of them to look for student loans, which can lead to some serious debt that they’ll be dealing with for years after they graduate.

An apprenticeship is hands-on training meaning you work with a expecialist in a field learning how to work with him in a practical job such as electrician, it can take some years to finish but leads up to a qualification in that area. It’s more general than an apprenticeship and is great for getting your foot in the door to learn the basics of a new industry.
