Martin Luther King

Born in january 15th of 1929 in Atlanta, known as a American evangelical pastor, political and activist.

Family

He married Coretta King (1927 – 2005) and had 4 kids:- Yolanda King (1955–2007);- Martin Luther King III (1957–); - Dexter Scott King (1961–2024); - Bernice King (1963–)

He defended legal equality, social justice and human rights. He led numerous campaigns and protests, such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Birmingham Campaign and the Marchon Washington.

King's iconic "I Have a Dream" speech expressed his desires for the liberation of his fellow brothers, while reminding us of the true meaning of the phrase, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

In 1994 won the Congressional Gold Medal

King's legacy

Luther King aroused a lot of hatred among those who defended racial segregation. Because of that he was constantly threatened with death.

Besides Martin Luther King there were other freedom fighters in the movement.Rosa Parks and Malcolm X for exemple

King's legacy is a holiday made in his honor. This holiday is celebrated in the Third Monday of January.
