question 1

1/3

Which goes better with this show? Hint: As the 1920s ended, the loose straight silhouette of women's clothing was replaced with a long slender look that highlighted curves, broad shoulders, and standard waistlines.

QUESTION 2

2/3

What style would go best with the 1930's? Hint: Throughout the 1930s, men's fashion still relied on the suit, but it was now popular for men to sport a semi-formal look outside of the office. A colorful style became common Bright patterned sport coats and striped or checkered pants started to be explored, far from the visions of old-timey gangster suits.

QUESTION 3

SET DESIGN

For this play, I wanted the set to be as functional as possible so we can all move around easily and comfortably. I like the idea of having stairs leading backstage to allow for natural entrances and exits, as well as a door for the same purpose. The show is set in the 1930's so seating arrangements are more formal and luxurious, akin to a 1930's drawing room. To add personality, I would like to include plenty of plants and framed memorabilia of Dowden's plantation and his acheivements. And of course, many many things are banana themed. Aside from the bananas in the bowl on the table, all the lights in the house are banana stem lights with the lights sprouting from the ends.

SOUND/MUsic

The soundscapes of the play

In The Attempted Murder of Peggy Sweetwater, the music can reflect both funny and intense scenes. When the show goes for a "spoofy" horror vibe, we get exaggerated, classic horror sounds: dramatic organ chords, creaking noises, and loud cymbal crashes that are spooky but also make people laugh. For the truly suspenseful parts, the music turns low and tense, with deep bass notes and soft, building violins that create real tension. These different sounds help the audience feel the mix of humor and mystery in Peggy Sweetwater’s world.
