Em sociologia, a marginalidade é o processo social de se tornar ou ser tornado marginal (submetido a uma condição social inferior, à beira ou à margem (da sociedade) ). Ser marginalizado significa estar na margem, nunca no centro, ou simplesmente ser excluído da vida social.

Afastamento da vida social, isolamento por parte do indivíduo, e eventualmente, a prática de atos delinquentes.

CAUSAS

Aumento do desemprego, precarização das condições de trabalho, desigualdades sociais, problemas urbanos e o capitalismo.

REALIDADE SOCIAL PORTUGUESA

Em Portugal, comunidades de imigrantes, como brasileiros e romenos, enfrentam problemas de marginalidade, sendo alvos de discriminação e tendo acesso limitado a oportunidades de trabalho e serviços sociais.

A Roménia tem uma grande comunidade cigana, abrigando cerca de 2,5 milhões numa população de 19 milhões. Aproximadamente 90% dessas famílias vivem em extrema pobreza e são vítimas de racismo. O número de membros deste grupo étnico na pobreza é três vezes maior do que o de qualquer outro grupo étnico, de acordo com a ONG Small Steps Project.

Conclusão

O processo de marginalidade social está nomeadamente associado à pobreza e às condições sociais dos indivíduos, levando assim ao desemprego e à precaridade das condições de trabalho. É assim importante que antes de tudo se acabe com a marginalidade, pois as suas consequências vão para além do impacto individual, levando a um coletivo aumento da pobreza, violência e desigualdades.

Estas populações habitam frequentemente em bairros mais degradados, caracterizados pela concentração e estigmatização da pobreza.Desta forma, a marginalidade acaba por vir de polícias, tribunais, vizinhos, e até mesmo dos serviços de apoio social, tornando-se difícil conseguir emprego no mercado formal.
