Before
Before the convection, it's going to get warmed up so it'll become less dense, the molecues will vibrate more, they will bounce further away. The water is going to move upwards. This is a great example of what actually happens inside the Earth. The tiny pieces in the lithosphere and athernosphere get warmed up first.
During
The heat molecues rise at the top causing cooler molecues to go to the bottom. It'll go to the bottom to get warm again. It's a process and it'll be repeated. This is why we think the plates could be moving. It is kind of like a circle pattern.
After
After this process, the water at the bottom will become lighter. It will get more straight and should repeat again going in a cycle. The athenosphere does have some of this happening. It also drags the lithosphere along with it causing it to move in that area. They put enough drag into the litosphere.(could not find an image, I am sorry)
The videos from Monday (I was not here this day) I asked Natalie Wheeler before I copy and pasted this link.
