introduction

In this work we're going to talk to you about the five senses, the nervous system, the neurons, the skeleton, the muscles...

Video of the five senses

Sight

Sight is one of the most important senses for some. The light enters in the eye trought the cornea and the pupil. Its vital sense organ is the eye and it has seven parts such as the cornea, the pupil, the iris, the lens, the retina, the optic nerve and the fovea

Hearing

One of the most important senses is hearing and its vital sense organ are the ears. The ears pick up sond waves and travel into the ear canal. The parts of the ear are: ear canal, eardrum, tiny ear bones, cochlea, auditory nerve and semicircular canals

Smell

Smell is one of the least important senses. The fundamental sense organ for smelling is the nose.Smell occurs because odour particles enters nose. The parts of the nose are: ofactory bulb, olfatory receptors and nostril.

Touch

Touch is the most important sense for blind people, because they cannot see, they touch things and they know what it is.Touch occurs when you touch something, the vital sense organ for touch is the skin, and a curious fact about the skin is that it is the largest organ in the body. The skin has three layers that are: -Epidermis:Is the outside layer, covers and protect our body. -Dermis:Is the middle layer, contains nerves glands and touch receptors. -Hypodemis:contains fat tissue and sweet glands. Touch receptors detect texture, temperature, pressure and pain

Taste

Taste occours when you eat, their vital sense organ is the mouth.Food touches the tongue, which has lots of taste buds

We can detect five tastes that are:

Nerves send the taste information to the brain

  • Sweet
  • Salty
  • Bitter
  • Sour
  • Umami

What is interaction?

Interaction: receive information from sense organ and react. The sense organs are: -Eyes for sight -Ears for hearing -Nose for smell -Mouth for taste -Skin for touch

The central nervous system

  • Spinal cord

The nervous system has two parts the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.

The spinal cord is connected with the brainstem and extends down our back. Messages travel to and from the brain along the spinal cord. The spinal cord controls reflexes, such as catching an objects that is falling

The brain is protected by the skull, the brain has three parts:the cerebellum, cerebrum and the brainstem

Neurons

  • Axons transmit the electrical signals to other neurons

The neurons has three parts the synapes, dentries and the axons

  • In synapes, electrical signals pass from one neuron to the next
  • In dentries receive electrical signals from other neurons

Types of neuron

Sensory neurons

carry electrical signals from the sense organs to the brain.

Motor neurons

the brain sends a message to the locomotor system

Our bones

Types of bones

  • flat bones like Sternum
  • Short bones like vertebrae
  • Longs bones like femur

Types of joints

The skeleton

  • Fixed joints
  • Semi-flexible joints
  • Flexible joints

The skeleton holds the body upright, protects the internals organs and allow us to move.

Our muscles

Muscles movement is controlled by the nervous system. The muscles are:

  • Dorsal muscle
  • Calf muscle
  • Trapezius
  • Gluteus
  • Biceps femoris
  • Frontalis
  • Pectorals
  • Deltoid
  • Biceps
  • Abdominals
  • Quadriceps
  • Triceps

Types of muscles

  • Smooth muscles are involuntary
  • Skeletal muscles are voluntary
  • Cardiac muscle is involuntary
