1. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
The Lion the Witch and the wardrobe was written by C.S. Lewis and published in 1950.
Four siblings, Peter, Lucy, Susan, and Edmond, move out of London to the countryside to live with a professor and take refuge because of the war. Lucy discovers a wardrobe that is far from ordinary. It leads her to the magical world of Narnia. C.S. Lewis tells a thrilling tale of 4 siblings exploring an unexpected world, with magical creatures, and an evil witch who took control of the realm.

2. Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone
Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone was written by J.K. Rowling and published in 1997.
Harry Potter is a young boy whose parents died when he was young. He lives with his aunt and uncle who severely dislike him and make him live under the stairs. On his 11th birthday, he is visited by a large hairy man who tells him he is a wizard. Harry is given an acceptance letter into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He goes off to school to learn about his magic abilities.

3. The Never Ending Story
The Never Ending story was written by Michael Ende and Published in 1979. It was originally written in German!
The Never Ending story follows Bastian Balthazar Bux, a young boy who is neglected by his father after his mother's death. He is bullied and escapes into a bookstore where he find the book "The Never Ending Story". Bastian reads it and is fascinated by the fantastical world. A young empress is looking for a delegation to take down the looming threat of "The Nothing". Atreyu, a boy warrior, is chosen for the job. As Bastian continues reading, he is surprised by the hints that the charchters know he is reading their story.

4. The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games is a book written in 2008 by Suzanne Collins.
Katniss Everdeen lives in a dystopian future where the world is split into 13 districts. Every year, the districts hold a game: The Hunger Games. 2 contests are all chosen to compete in a large arena and fight to the death. Katniss' 12-year-old sister Primrose is chosen to compete in the games. Katniss quickly volunteers as a tribute and is sent to play in the deadly games.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe takes place in the 1940's during World War 2. The siblings flee London because of a historical event called the Blitz, which was a series of bombings the Germans did on London.
Harry Potter finds out that there was an evil wizard named Voldemort who killed his parents. Voldemort tried to kill Harry but failed. So, Harry was named "the boy who lived" (he's kind of a legend in the wizarding world).
The Never Ending story was first translated into English in 1983 by a man named Ralph Manheim. And, in 1984 a film was made about the book.
The way tributes are chosen to play in the Hunger Games is through a lottery. Everyone is entered after they reach the age of 12 and are withdrawn entry at age 19.
