Meet Susie and Donna
Susie is a pit-bull mix, and was found in a park located in North Carolina in 2009. How did this happen? An innocent loving pup went and licked her owners newborn babies face. Overcome with rage the owner beat her, her jaw broken, teeth missing, and was set on fire and left at the park. She somehow survived, suffering third-degree burns. She kept herself alive by eating food from the garbage and drinking from pools of water filled with mud. 60% of her body was covered in wounds and filled with maggots. She was adopted by Donna Lawrence and now lives her life as a therapy dog to burn survivors, giving and receiving love and care. This story was so impactful it became a movie, called Susie's Hope released in 2013.
