Which of the following statements about minerals is most accurate? A. Minerals are easy to get and do not cost a lot to obtain. B. Mineral resources have existed for millions of years and will continue to exist for millions of years. C. Minerals are renewable resources and exist in an unlimited supply. D. Minerals exist in limited supplies and can sometimes be hard to access.
coal oil natural gas
ANSWERS WILL VARY. Sample: Yes, we should curb our fossil fuel use because they are always being formed but at a VERY slow rate. If we lessen our use, we could save some for future generations.
SNAKES
If the player lands on the higher-numbered square of a "snake", the token must be moved down to the snake's lower-numbered square
LADDERS
If the player's token lands on the lower-numbered end of a "ladder", the player moves the token up to the ladder's higher-numbered square
INSTRUCTIONS Each player starts with a token on the starting square (usually the "1" grid square in the bottom left corner, or simply, off the board next to the "1" grid square). Players take turns rolling a single die to move their token by the number of squares indicated by the die roll. Tokens follow a fixed route marked on the gameboard which usually follows a boustrophedon (ox-plow) track from the bottom to the top of the playing area, passing once through every square. If, on completion of a move, a player's token lands on the lower-numbered end of a "ladder", the player moves the token up to the ladder's higher-numbered square. If the player lands on the higher-numbered square of a "snake" (or chute), the token must be moved down to the snake's lower-numbered square. If a 6 is rolled the player, after moving, immediately rolls again for another turn; otherwise play passes to the next player in turn. The player who is first to bring their token to the last square of the track is the winner.
it can become a nonrenewable resource
Congratulations!
- nonrenewable
- cause pollution when burned
- being used faster than they can be replaced
- food, energy, to make or build things
Biomass is energy from recently living organisms such as leaves or plants. These materials can be burned to release energy.
gold coal natural gas fertile land
- Turn up the A/C a few degrees in warm months
- turn off the lights or fan when you're not in the room
- change light bulbs to more energy efficient bulbs
depletion
____________ is a reduction in the amount of something
- nonrenewable
- cause pollution when burned
- being used faster than they can be replaced
nonrenewable resource
coal
oil is formed from the remains of small, marine plants and animals buried under heat and pressure.
depletion
____________ is a reduction in the amount of something
nonrenewable resource
renewable resources can be regenerated while nonrenewable resources are used up and cannot be regenerated in our lifetime

plants - medicine, makeup, food, lotion animals - food, medicine, clothing oil - plastic, nylon, polyester, gasoline, wax, tar
4. Which words below correctly complete the sentence to describe minerals: Minerals exist in ________ supplies and ______________ to access. A. Plentiful; always easy B. Limited; can be hard C. Plentiful; can be hard D. Limited; always easy
these products are nonrenewable. If we recycle, we help ensure that these materials are available for future generations.

fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas. These resources will eventually run out. These conflicts could take place in the Middle East, Canada, or Russia (fossil fuel-rich areas)
