Context

- 11/ 12 years old students - Level B1 - They have been studying since they were 7 years old - Class of 20 students - They are used to gamificated type activities - Proposed as a review activity for our tense, the present perfect. - Individual activity

PRESENTATION

This activity is based on the Digital Breakout concept, which is an online puzzle type game where participants need to solve a series of challenges to make a progress and achieve a final goal. It is inspired in the real life activity called Scape Room, but as mentioned, we are using technology tools and interactive platforms.

OBJECTIVES

This breakout is designed to engage learners with an approach that encourages progression from fundamental comprehension to more complex skills: Remembering: Helping learners recall key ideas. Applying: Encouraging learners to use what they know in practical situations. Analyzing: Making learners to understand information and look at how things are connected. Evaluating: Having learners make judgments or give feedback based on set criteria. Creating: Giving learners the chance to come up with new ideas.

THEME

For our project, after several viable options, we decided to develop this Breakout into SpongeBob's world. We think it is a good option to catch our students interests and also could work with different audiences and ages.

INTRUCTIONS

In order to complete our Breakout, our students will need to complete a total of 5 stations, where they will find real references to the show, such as Krusty Krab, SpongeBob, Plankton...)

EVALUATION

As it is a individual activity, we will proportionate them an interactive tool, for example a tablet with the Breakout prepared. The assessing will be done by looking at our student's answers, if they are correct or not, how long did it take them to answer, if they understood the tense we are working on...

CRITERIA

As it is a non-graded activity, we wanted to focus on preparing a task where our students don't feel the pressure of failing and receving a bad result. Intead, we would provide a valuable feedback on their understanding and use of the present perfect tense by studying their accuracy, contextual use and creativity.

What happened?!

Plankton just stole the Krabby Patty secret formula! We have to stop him before he uses it for his benefit! SpongeBob and Patrick need to stop him and return the secret formula to the Krusty Krab. But they will not be alone, we can help them!!
