Roles & Functions of the Cardiovasicular system

Heart

The heart acts as a muscular pump and controls how blood is moved throughout the body. It can also control the rhythym and speed of your heart rate as well as maintain blood pressure.

Blood Vessels

Arteries: Are responsible for carrying oxygen-rich blood from the heart to other body tissues.

Veins: Plays a role in carrying oxygen-poor blood back to the heart.

Capillaries: The small blood vessels where oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor blood are exchanged.

Blood Cells

The blood cells are responsible for carrying oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to cells. They are also responsible for carrying waste products like carbon dioxide away from the cells.

Red Blood Cells: Used for oxygen transport.White Blood Cells: Helps with the immune function. Platelets: Helps with blood clotting.
