Domestic Abuse Act 2021
The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 definition is the first legal, cross-governmental definition of domestic abuse in the UK.
Any reference in this Act to a victim of domestic abuse includes a reference to a child who:
- is under the age of 18
- sees, hears or experiences the effects of the abuse
- is related to the abuser or the target
Adoption and Children Act 2002
The Act places a duty on local authorities to support all victims of domestic abuse in safe accommodation, including children.
