On arrive à lire que la pente est égale à 1 si x est positif ; et que la pente est égale à -1 si x est négatif. On veut étudier la pente en 0. Si on approche de 0 par les négatifs, la pente est égale à -1. Si on approche de 0 par les positifs, la pente est égale à 1. La pente en 0 aurait deux valeurs distinctes (1 et -1): il nous est donc impossible de donner une valeur pour la pente en 0. On dit que la fonction n'est pas dérivable en 0.
