Middle school
-School Grades: Middle school in the United States includes the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.-Age of students: Students in this range are between 11 and 13-14 years old. -Structure: Unlike elementary school, students change classrooms and teachers for each subject, for getting used to a school style closer to high school. -Subjects: The main subjects are English, mathematics, science and social studies;Among the languages requested we find spanish, german and french. -Educational approach: In addition to academic lessons, American middle school places great emphasis on social and emotional development. Counseling and emotional support programs are widespread.
Elementary school:
-School Grades: elementary school in the United states generally ranges from Kindergarten through 5th grade. -Age of students: Students in this range are between 5 and 10-11 years old. -Structure: In American elementary schools, each classroom is assigned a single lead teacher who teaches all core subjects (art, writing, math, science, and social studies).
The curriculum is tied to the state the school is located in, but in general, children receive information about the history of the United States and the state they belong to.
Problems of the school system and solution
The American school system faces several complex problems, often influenced by economic, political and social disparities. Among these we find: • the financing system which, since it is based on local taxes, creates inequalities between rich and poor schools. • overcrowding of classes, a difficult situation for teachers who do not follow the students individually. • teachers are poorly prepared and underpaid, and this leads to poor quality of teaching. • few orientation paths for university and work. The solution to these problems requires investments to guarantee students a fair and quality education. If Trump were called to propose solutions, some of his actions could be: • the promotion of "school vouchers" to allow families to choose the school they prefer. • school safety, arming teachers to defend students. • increase funding for rural schools, disadvantaged compared to urban schools. • promotion of distance learning. • strengthening of vocational schools as an alternative to the university path.
High school and innovation
High school in the United States represents what high school is for us Italians, The grades of US High School, which vary depending on age, are: Freshman (14/15 years) – first year Sophomore (15/16 years old) – second year Junior (16/17 years) – third year Senior (17/18 years) – fourth year.
Classes start at 7.45 and end at 3In high schools you can solve which subjects to do and this favours the interest of the students, and also the university preparation. Another innovation of high schools is that in the afternoon there are several courses and sports activities, which favour sociality among studentsAll the students standing up say the anthem with their hands on their hearts
The Characteristics of the American School System are:-School calendar: American school begins in late August or early September and ends in May or June. Summer holidays are about three months long. -Practical approach: Teachings, especially in elementary school, often use practical methods and group activities, promoting problem-solving and collaboration. -Grading: Grading can vary, but often uses letter grades, such as A (excellent), B (good), C (fair), D (insufficient), and F (fail). However, more descriptive assessments are also used in elementary school. -Educational diversity: American schools types dependes on district and available resources. Schools with more funding may offer extracurricular activities such as sports, music and art.
