Il museo CLASSIS RAVENNA è uno dei più importanti musei archeologici d’Italia, nonché un vero e proprio viaggio nella storia di Ravenna. Insieme alla vicina Basilica di Sant’Apollinare in Classe e all’area archeologica dell’Antico Porto, costituisce il terzo tassello del Parco Archeologico di Classe. Posto a poche centinaia di metri dalla Basilica di Sant’Apollinare in Classe, il museo si sviluppa su un’area espositiva di ben 2.800 metri quadrati, frutto di un laborioso progetto di archeologia industriale che ha interessato i ruderi di un vecchio zuccherificio. Ad accogliere i visitatori è una rutilante scala decorata con un’onda di mosaico lunga ben 33 metri, realizzata dal Laboratorio di Restauro del Mosaico Antico della Fondazione RavennAntica: un’opera che sorprende e trascina verso l’ingresso del museo, e che sta a sottolineare come Ravenna e il mare siano un’unica cosa, da sempre.
