The Valley of Death is a desert area in the United States of America that gives its name to the national park located in the state of California and part in Nevada. About the center of the valley is the lowest point in North America. The name comes from the special climatic and environmental conditions that make it difficult for many animal and plant species to survive. Death Valley is a depression that forms part of the Great Basin and extends from north to south, between the Sierra Nevada in western California and the state of Nevada in eastern Nevada. The valley is 225 kilometres long and about 40 kilometres wide, and is bordered to the south by Owlshead Mountain. The northern boundary of the park is near Scotty’s Castle, the northern entrance to the park, the west boundary of the Panamint Range and the east boundary is the Amargosa Range. The climate in Death Valley is hot. Due to the demographic arrangement, on the whole territory rain from 3 to 6 centimeters of water per year, as a result there is not a basin with a river. From May to September, the average daytime temperature is around 50 °C with peaks of even more than 54 °C. At night it drops to between 28 and 37 °C.
DEATH VALLEY
The name Hollywood was given in 1886 by Mrs Wilcox, wife of a real estate investor, to an immense estate in Los Angeles. She admitted that the name was chosen only because it sounded good, not because of the type of plants growing on the property. From the beginning, the name Hollywood indicated a space between reality and fantasy where, thanks to cinema it would later turn into a world industry. In the late 1920s a gentleman bought another set of places near the estate, calling Hollywood the world capital of entertainment and an approach to cinema without equal. In 1890 the Wilcox sold many of their properties in Hollywood, which by 1903 was a village. In those same years, various groups of film producers came, attracted by the ideal climatic conditions for filming, thanks to this and many other events the name Hollywood had become synonymous with American cinema.
