Whooping Cough

Is A Contagious Airway infection
Wooping cough is caused by a bacterial infection. It's spread by dropplets, or by coming in direct contact with a person who has it.

Cause of disease

  • Mucas in throat
  • unctontollable cough
  • High pitched intake of breathe
  • vommiting
  • fatigue

Progressing signs:

  • Runny nose
  • Red/watering eyes
  • Low grade fever
  • Cough

Where can whooping cough be found?

Whooping cough can be found all over the world but it can be mainly found in the US since we have the most reported cases and outbreaks. But it did originate in paris.

There is only a 1% chance of someone dying to wooping cough and it is extreamlly rare nowdays to die from wooping cough. Only one in one hundred people can die from it. I could not find a chart not for morbidity.

Symptoms get better, but still at risk for other infections

What happend during these times?

In 1578 the first ever outbreak of whooping cough was documented. In 1906 the organism that cause whooping cough was discoverd. 1940's the vaccine for whooping cough was created. 1980's cases becagen to increase due to waning immunity and vaccine hesitancy. Early 20th century was a health issue and thousand of cases we're being reported. 2012, over 48,000 cases were reported.

Covid 19 there was a noticbile decline in wooping cough cases which was likely due to the decline of interactions and increase of hygenic practices.
