The current population of white tigers is currently at around 200 with all of them remaining in captivity.

White tigers were more common in India .In 1900 and there were about 100,000 white tigers but in 1972 there were 1.827 left in the country .

It is in danger of extinction due to excessive hunting for its skin, its tusks that are used as an amulet, and habitat loss.
