A storie of feminism
Reevaluation of Cinderella's Character :
Today we are going to talk about Cinderella and the message of feminism hidden in this children's tale. I’m sure that you would probably think that Cinderella is the last princess that we would see as a feminist, very different from Mulan or Pocahontas. Well think again! Behind her docile and complacent appearances, Cinderella was in fact a rebel for the condition of women of her time.

Historical Background
01
The version of Cinderella that we know today is the most famous work of Charles Perrault, a French author, published in 1697. Originally titled “Cinderella or the Little Glass Slipper”. This French version, is actually the one that Walt Disney used to create our now Cinderella in 1950. Including all the magical element that we know today, pumpkin, godmother, glass slipper, etc

It's very simple, it features a young woman who finds herself, by the force of fate, in a difficult situation, often living off an extended family. Then one day, fate turns in her favor with the arrival of a noble figure, often a prince, who falls in love with our heroine and tries at all costs to discover who she is. When her identity is finally revealed, after a few adventures, they marry, thus allowing the heroine to regain a higher social status than that of her tormentors, who, for their part, receive a punishment commensurate with their cruelty. And let's not forget of course the 'Holy Trinity': a fairy godmother, a magic object and enchanted companions who provide their assistance.
Cinderella Recipe
“The earliest recorded tales is by Strabo a Greek who recorded the story of Rhodopis between 7 BCE and 23 CE. She was a young Greek courtesan who attracted the attention of the Pharaoh when an eagle flew off with her sandal and dropped it in his lap. He was so intrigued by the shoe and its shape that he searched for the owner.” (History Of Cinderella | Abilene, TX, s. d., p. 1).

Disney princesses bring a moral to young girls to always work for their goals and not to let themselves be pushed around. The character of Cinderella also brings this feminist strength and I would even say avant-garde for her time.
Despite all odds and her more than precarious situation as well as the abuse she suffers daily, she does not let herself be defeated, continues to dream of a sweeter future, and does not let the situation she finds herself in dictate how her life should be. Stuck in a position where she has no control over her life, she still manages, through her boldness and bravery, to get out of it. She is able to overcome her challenges because of her emotional strength.

Synthesis
Even if, in the end, the prince falls in love with her and she chooses him, feminism also resonates in the freedom of choice of each person, man or woman. When you think about it, it was her bravery and curiosity that made her luck and improved her situation. For a woman of her time, Cinderella was truly a fighter! The transformation from a mistreated girl to a respected princess symbolizes the potential for change in one’s social status through bravery and resilience, further supporting the argument of Cinderella as a role model for women.
