Fractions and mathematical operations on them

Ydych chi'n defnyddio ffracsiynau yn eich bywyd bob dydd? Rhowch enghraifft.

Do you use fractions in your daily life? Give an example.

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

  • Recognise what fractions are and their numerator and denominator.
  • Understand the mathematical relationship between fractions and percentages using the formula.
  • Apply the formula for converting percentages to fractions in real-world situations in the context of the environment.

Aim: To determine a fraction as a part of a whole number and convert percentages to fractions using the formula

Fractions are numbers that represent part of a whole. Fractions have two numbers: the numerator and the denominator. The numerator is the number on the top of a fraction that shows the number of parts that are selected or present. The denominator is the number on the bottom of a fraction that shows the total number of parts into which the whole piece is divided.

Cymraeg

Write 100 as the denominator

Write the number before the percent sign as the numerator

Remove the percent sign. Divide the number by 100

Mathematical relationship between fraction and percentages

Fraction = Percent ÷ 100

Using the formula for converting percentages to fractions determine which fractions correspond to 78%, 21%, and 1%?
In small groups, look at the diagram and complete the task

Ffracsiynau yw rhifau sy'n cynrychioli rhan o gyfanwaith. Mae gan ffracsiynau ddau rif: y rhifiadur a'r enwadur. Y rhifiadur yw'r rhif ar ben ffracsiwn sy'n dangos nifer y rhannau sy'n cael eu dewis neu sy'n bresennol. Yr enwadur yw'r rhif ar gwaelod ffracsiwn sy'n dangos cyfanswm nifer y rhannau y mae'r darn cyfan wedi'i rannu iddynt.
Erbyn diwedd y wers, bydd myfyrwyr yn gallu: - Adnabod beth yw ffracsiynau a'u rhifiadur a'u henwadur. - Deall y berthynas fathemategol rhwng ffracsiynau a chanrannau gan ddefnyddio'r fformiwla. - Cymhwyso'r fformiwla ar gyfer trosi canrannau i ffracsiynau mewn sefyllfaoedd byd go iawn yng nghyd-destun yr amgylchedd.

Nod: Pennu ffracsiwn fel rhan o rif cyfan a throsi canrannau yn ffracsiynau gan ddefnyddio'r fformiwla

Gan ddefnyddio'r rheol ar gyfer trosi canrannau yn ffracsiynau, darganfyddwch pa ffracsiynau sy'n cyfateb i 78%, 21%, ac 1%?
