Goal 2

Code Magic is an engaging presentation designed to introduce elementary educators to coding robots, promoting hands-on, interactive learning in classrooms. The goal was to showcase the value of coding activities for young learners, emphasizing problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, and the connection to play. It highlights various coding robots suitable for different age groups, along with practical strategies for integrating them into everyday lessons. It also offered exploration time to try out our featured robots with exemplar activities that are both accessible and differentiated for all learners. With my co-presenter, we've given this training at 3 different conferences, for 3 different audiences, and customized it based on needs at each one.

Goal 3

In this Lunch and Learn style professional learning session, I created a website to pull together some common topics teachers were interested in exploring to offer a "one-stop-shop" of resources. Teachers were invited to join their coaching team for lunch and explore topics in a low-risk, low-entry point, high interest coaching session that was personalized to their needs and interests.

The Math Station Mix Tape PD guides educators through refining existing math stations to best support deliberate play based learning and the idea of productive struggle in mathematics. Teachers spent a majority of time exploring differentiated, relevant station activities, engaging in team-based conversation around standards, and discussing practical ways to elevate stations from basic to more creative, engaging tasks.

Newmanopoly is a PD structure designed to help staff orient themselves toward a common goal throughout the year. At one campus I worked with, we discovered teachers needed a way to understand how the different elements of learning throughout the year connected together, so I designed Newmanopoly as a mechanism for that. It is designed to be engaging, goal-oriented, and adaptable, focusing on ongoing professional development that is teacher-led and job-embedded. It emphasizes differentiation to meet various needs, ensuring that learning remains relevant, purposeful, and enjoyable for educators. The PD structure is intended to foster meaningful, practical growth directly applicable to teaching roles.

Playful Learning

At one of my schools, we spent time analyzing data and realized that even our highest performing students we struggling with remembering their learning and making connections between content. There is a great deal of research behind the science of play based learning, and in our post-COVID world, we've gotten away from it. This year, we designed professional learning to mirror the type of learning we hope teachers use in their classrooms and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Teachers have made changes to the way they teach to focus on providing experiences rather than simply facilitating learning.

Goal 7

Spring Training is a baseball-themed challenge with a goal of encouraging teachers to try new engagement strategies with their students. It gave teachers ideas for ways to step out of their comfort zones and adopt techniques that boost classroom interaction and excitement. The challenge was gamefied in different ways at my two campuses, based on how each staff reponded to competition and rewards.

Goal 8

One of the major goals in my school district is preparing students to be "Future Ready." With this idea in mind, I asked my principals if I could facilitate an Innovation Day at each campus, designed to allow students to engage in different design, engineering, and creative challenges.

Goal 9

In the 2019-2020 school year, my district adopted a new platform for student assessment and data analysis. While a helpful tool, it had a steep learning curve for teacher adoption. I spent extra time learning the ins and outs of this platform in order to best support my schools and teachers. When I transferred to a new school, I helped reframe perspectives so teachers felt confident using this new platform.

Goal 8

Goal 10

In July of 2020, my district made a decision to pivot to 100% virtual learning for the first few weeks of school. With this change came an urgent need for focused training on the various platforms we used as a district, specifically our Learning Management System for elementary teachers. As a digital learning coach, I was tasked with this training and made 2 separate versions for teachers. My co-presenter and I offered this training multiple times with live demos of how it worked and quick answers to questions so teachers felt confident starting the school year.

Goal 9

Goal 11

Every year, my district offers a summer conference for employees. In the summer of 2020, I worked with one of my teachers on this presentation after coaching her throughout the year. Our goal was to educate teachers on a teaching model they could use in their classrooms called the station rotation model. When this conference suddenly went virtual, we were still able to let participants experience this model and it proved to be an effective way to facilitate learning in small groups for both face-to-face and virtual environments.

Goal 12

This session explores the essentials of effective coaching by focusing on building strong connections and fostering meaningful relationships, regardless of one’s role. Drawing on insights from thought leaders in coaching, participants learn practical strategies to incorporate coaching into everyday interactions, from active listening to promoting reflection. With experience in both instructional and technology coaching, I emphasize foundational principles—empathy, questioning, and growth-focused feedback—that empower educators to create genuine impact and inspire a passion for continuous learning. This presentation has gone through three iterations for three different conferences, evolving each time because of new learning to become what it is today.

Goal 11

Goal 13

In the spring of 2023, I applied to present at our annual district conference and was selected to present on creative student assessment strategies. This learning session emphasizes designing assessments that reflect authentic learning through student voice and choice. By exploring performance-based tasks, educators learn to evaluate students’ skills in applying knowledge to real-world scenarios, fostering a more inclusive and equitable environment. I then worked with a different co-presenter to adapt this for an entirely elementary audience and present at a national conference in February 2024.

Goal 12

Goal 14

Working at a Title 1 school this year, with a high number of low income students, one of the challenges we face is that students have not had opportunities to build background knowledge around real world experiences. To combat that, we are working this year to build a culture that values future ready learning experiences and playful learning through intentional, targeted technology usage. I am collaborating with my coaching team to create transformation rooms, designed to provide experiences to students so they can make real world connections and ground their learning in something meaningful.

Goal 13

Goal 15

Aligned with my campus goals of creating rigorous future ready learning experiences for students, my goals this year is to build capacity in teachers to use technology in a transformative way rather than as a replacement for what can be done on paper. One strategy I'm using is what I've named my "Playful Technology Spotlight." Each quarter of the school year, I plan to focus on a different skill and highlight examples of engaging, challenging, and unique ways students can use technology to showcase their learning.

Goal 14

Goal 16

I have always been passionate about literacy, but the intersection of literacy and technology is an especially unique and vital point of conversation. This session explores how technology can enrich literacy by teaching students to interpret diverse media formats, going beyond traditional reading skills. It also presents strategies to foster independence, comprehension, and creativity in students. After presenting this session, I continued to explore and learn, ultimately resulting in a published blog post on the topic in the lead up to presenting at TCEA's Annual Conference.

Goal 15

Goal 17

My work as a Digital Learning Coach can primarily be broken into three distinct roles: Learner, Coach, and Leader. As a learner on my campus, I spend a lot of time digging into our curriculum and digital programs we offer and figuring out how to best support student needs by marrying the two together. I am creating, spending time in classrooms modeling for or with teachers, and empowering them. As a coach, I collaborate with teachers to figure out how to best support their needs and student needs. We plan together weekly and work through cycles of coaching. As an instructional leader on campus, I'm constantly working with my campus administration to integrate meaningful technology and design engaging learning experiences for teachers and students. I also serve as the liaison between the technology department and the campus.
