In the past, he has stated that the move of independence might be too early. He is not completely sure he wishes to support the Patriots. His business future, at present, depends on his relationship with England and the colonial government.

He is a well-known son of a very famous Pennsylvania liberal. He has traveled widely with his father and helped him in many ways. He became a lawyer and the King appointed him Royal Governor of New Jersey. After tensions started between the colonists and England, his father refused to associate with him or even mention his name. "If you intend to set the colonies aflame, take care to run away by the light of it."

He is a respected member of the Assembly and has been elected Speaker of the Assembly. He tends to side with radical views at about this time he is not completely sure.

He is the Royal Governor of Massachusetts. He entered Harvard at 13 and graduated in 1727. He may not agree with the actions of the English King and Parliament but he will always obey them. He will stand by his King but is also interested in making money for himself. "Americans were convinced in their own minds that they were very miserable, and those who think so are so. There is nothing so easy as to persuade people that they are badly governed."

He is a member of the Massachusetts Assembly and has been re-elected five times by the people of Salem, whom he represents. He does not wish at this time to become involved in any extreme ideas, as he isn’t sure he is ready for a change. He is a merchant and trader dealing mainly with English merchants.

He was born in 1706 in Boston but later moved to Philadelphia. He later became editor of a newspaper and was jailed for "improper comments" by the English government. He became a printer in Philadelphia and is quite well known. He is a member of the Continental Congress and opposes most of the things England does. "Any society that will give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."

He was born in Virginia in 1743, the son of a surveyor. He began poor but married into a well-known, rich family. He attended the College of William and Mary and became a lawyer. He has held many offices, including being a member of the House of Burgesses. He is quiet, but when he speaks, people listen. He has a large plantation and many slaves. "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."

He was an English born man who failed at a lot of things until he became a journalist in the American colonies. In 1776 he wrote a pamphlet called Common Sense. “Why is it that we hesitate? From Britain we can expect nothing but ruin. If she is admitted to the government of America again, this continent will not be worth living in.” Quote from his work Common Sense.

She was a colonist who felt that women had as much of a responsibility to be politically involved as men. She smuggled letters of information to British ships to help with the war effort, and acted as a spy.
