So yes, they depend on our obedience. When we withdraw it, their power disappears. It’s important to know that. It’s important to know that every little thing we do helps. We don’t all have to do heroic things. All we have to do is little things. And at certain points in history, millions of little things come together and change takes place. Howard Zinn

"Historically, the most terrible things ― war, genocide, and slavery ― have resulted not from disobedience, but from obedience."Howard Zinn on War

The USA and across the globe

After a long period of chaos, terror and disease, British society has become cruel and unjust. The chancellor Adam Sutler used the fear of the population to establish a dictatorship by using corruption, and a system of surveillance. He promised them peace, if they accepted to be silent. Vendetta, a charismatic and mysterious character, broke this silence by destroying the old Bailey. He wants people to join him. He urges them to rebel against their government.

Pour faire une hypothèse sur quelque chose qui est entrain de se passer:

  • Vous n'êtes pas sûrs du tout = Sujet + might + Be + V-ing
  • C'est du 50 / 50 = Sujet + may + Be + V-ing
  • Vous en êtes convaincus = Sujet + must + be + V-ing
Exemples: V might be saying that people have forgotten about Nov 5th. He may be explaining that the government is controlling people's minds. He must be criticizing the government.

In this video, we can understand England has become a dictatorship / a totalitarian regime. There are flags of the regime everywhere, a motto which is not England's motto. Besides (de plus), we can see the massive portrait of a man hanging in a retirement home. He must be the political leader of this regime. In this extract, V has hijacked the emergency channel to deliver his speech. Indeed, (en effet) he threatens the people in the control room into playing his video. Considering the state of the country, V must be talking about justice and freedom.
