TYPICAL TREATMENT PATHWAY
Breast Cancer
Surgery is typically the first step in treatment pathways. The aim of breast cancer surgery is to remove the existing cancer, and there are two main types of surgery: 1. Mastectomy: complete removal of breast tissue; usually reserved for advanced-stage cancers 2. Breast-conserving Surgery (partial mastectomy/lumpectomy): removal of only the cancerous tissue and a small margin around it
