Unit IPS08

Job 1: Installing a Cooling System in a Confined Space

Job 2

For this job, I worked on installing a cooling system in a confined space, setting up the main coolant pipes and support brackets while making the most of a restricted area.Preparation and Setup:I started by going through the technical drawings and specs, noting the layout of the cooling system and checking out the space available. I gathered the tools I’d need, like adjustable and torque wrenches, and made sure all safety gear, especially for confined spaces, was in place. Since it was a small area, it was critical to have the right PPE and ensure safe entry and exit.Positioning and Installation:With everything prepped, I began marking where the cooling pipes and brackets would go, ensuring everything lined up with the layout. Using lifting tools, I placed the pipes as specified and secured them with support brackets. The tight space made it tricky to reach some joints, but with flexible and extended tools, I fastened each connection securely. I double-checked alignment with the drawings to make sure everything was set to avoid future issues.Final Checks:After installation, I inspected all connections to make sure they were secure, running a quick pressure test to check for leaks. With the pipes aligned and everything looking good, I documented the steps I took and flagged the area for final inspection.

Job 2: Setting Up Main Pipework with Anti-Vibration Supports

This job involved installing a section of main pipework with anti-vibration mounts to keep the system stable and cut down on vibrations that might affect nearby equipment.Preparation and Inspection:I reviewed the pipe layout on the drawings and prepped the workspace, making sure it was clear and safe. After gathering my tools—pipe cutters, measuring tools, and mounting equipment—I checked each one for safety compliance and gave the anti-vibration mounts a quality check as well.Mounting and Positioning:I started by positioning the first pipe section, aligning it to the exact coordinates on the drawings. Since the pipes ran close to other equipment, careful placement was essential. I attached the anti-vibration supports at key points along the route, securing them with high-tensile fasteners torqued to spec. I followed a sequential tightening process to distribute the load evenly, avoiding any risk of misalignment.Testing and Documentation:With the pipework set, I did a vibration check to confirm that the supports were doing their job. I also checked dimensions and alignment against the drawings to make sure everything matched up. Once it was all verified, I completed the documentation for quality control and prepped the area for the final handover.
