Grey's Anatomy
Grey’s Anatomy is a medical drama created by Shonda Rhimes, which debuted in 2005 and is still running with the 21st season. The series is set in the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle (originally called simply Seattle Grace hospital), where you follow the complex and intertwined life of a group of 5 young trainees ready to become new and ambitious surgeons. They are: Meredith Gray (is the main character of the story and is the daughter of two great surgeons who have given name to the hospital in which the story takes place), Izzie or Isobel Stevens (initially girlfriend of Alex Karev), Alex Karev (initially boyfriend of Izzie Stevens), George O' Malley (the smartest but underrated of the group of trainees) and Cristina Yang (Meredith's best friend). There are also other main characters, such as Richard Webber (head of surgery at the hospital), Miranda Bailey (specialized in general surgery), Derek Sheperd (my favorite character; he's specialized in neurosurgery and will be Meredith’s future husband), Addison Montgomery (specialized in gynecology; she will leave the hospital and Seattle, but will often be called back for surgery; she is also Derek’s ex-wife), Preston Burke (best heart surgeon in Seattle; will then have a relationship with Cristina), Callie Torres (specialized in orthopaedics; initially in relationship with George O'Malley), Mark Sloan (specialized in plastic surgery; is Derek's best friend), Finn Dandridge (is nicknamed "the vet" because he does it as work; initially he have a relationship with Meredith), Doc (the dog that Derek and Meredith have in common) and Denny Duquette ( key character to describe this episode, as he will have a relationship with Izzie, the trainee that follows him clinically). With intense moments ranging from tragic to triumphant, the series explores deeper human emotions, balancing the raw realities of life in the operating room with the intricacies of personal relationships.

The episode opens with Preston trying to wake up from surgery, (in the lasts episodes he was shot in the hand outside the hospital) with the help of Derek. Meanwhile, the trainees are worried because one of them, Izzie, almost killed a heart patient, Denny Doquette, by unplugging the ventricular pump that was needed to keep Denny’s heart beating. Izzie actually did it out of love, because if he did that his condition would have worsened and he would be the first on the transplant list to receive a new heart, then enjoy life together. The plans did not go as they should, and as I said before, Izzie with the help of her friends, risked killing Denny. In the end Denny gets the new heart and the surgery goes well. The story continues and in the hospital arrives a very young patient who reveals herself as the boss' granddaughter, with cancer. She' il probably die, so her friends decide to organize a prom-party for her. While George, Alex, Cristina and Izzie finished the preparations for the party, Meredith and Derek live a situation of tension and sadness together with Addison (now ex-wife of Derek): Doc, their dog, must be suppressed because he is sick.

the story of the episode
The final part of this episode is the most moving, and it’s why I chose this episode as well as knowing it well. In the final scenes, we see all the characters preparing for the dance: Derek at first dances with his ex-wife, Addison, and Meredith dances with the one who believes in future husband, Finn. After intense looks, Meredith and Derek end up together and spend the rest of the evening in the room wherethe surgeons' change. Meanwhile Izzie is choosing the dress she will wear to dance with Denny, but it takes longer than necessary, just because she wanted to be perfect. As she heads downstairs to visit her future husband, the shot shifts to Miranda and Richard, who learn of Denny’s death from a post-op stroke. As soon as Izzie arrives in Denny’s room she finds him dead and begins to despair feeling guilty for having taken too long to change clothes. All her friends come to trying to comfort her, and the episode ends with Isobel on the ground as she tries to realize how the love of her life could have died. In the next episodes, izzie will tell her boss that she was the one who pulled off the cord of the ventricular pump that kept Denny alive just so he could get a new heart quickly. After a while, she will withdraw from the hospital and stay at home to suffer for her loss. But one day, she receives a call from Denny’s father, who wants to talk to her and also wants to meet the guy that her son was supposed to marry. The story ends with Denny’s father giving Izzie a check for $8 million, which she will later use to charity the hospital creating a polyclinic in memory of Denny, the "Denny Duquette memorial clinic"
