Ashley Collings' 2019 release, "Tripping on Love", is a music that explores the concepts of love, indepence and the social norms that woman have.I choose this music because of three reasons:- The lyrics are interesting;- The theme of the song fits the theme of social environment;- The music is catchy and its used as a theme of a videogame character;

Social Norms

In today's society, particularly among young adults, there's apalpable struggle to balance personal independence with the desire for intimate connections. This is something that is more questioned betwen women, and so the singer is telling them that being independent and falling completely in love is something possible.

Path to acceptence

On the following verse, the singer starts talking to the boy she fell in love, and telling him how much he changed her ideals. She also comments that when she's with him, she feels stronger and safer, even though she stills feels independent.

Love Madness

After acknowledging her newfound feelings, the singer repeats multiple times the fact that she thinks she's "Tripping" or going insane.She also warns other girls that this is what a perfect relationship should look like, and if they aren't in a similar situation, they're probably going to regret it.

Media warns women about dangerous situations with a partner.

Media warns men about possible toxic partners.

What does this have to do with social environment?

In our current society, parents, teachers, news and media in generals warns us that relationships with the wrong people can often lead to horrible situations, but this music is trying to tell the listeners that people can still be in complete love with a partner.

Parents warn their daughter about violent and dangerous partners that can hurt them if unnoticed.

Parents, friends and media warns both men and women about unfaithful partners.

Reminder: Don't think that this mean these warnings are unwanted. What is implied is that these constant warnings make people way too careful, and sometimes they can overthink things and forget the feeling of true love.
