Here, they’ll meet DeWitt Clinton, who shares stories about the Erie Canal’s transformative effects on American commerce and culture—like how it significantly lowered shipping costs, fostered the growth of inland cities, and facilitated a rapid exchange of ideas and goods between Northern and Western regions. Once aboard rafts designed to resemble wooden canal barges, guests float along the stream, encountering animatronic scenes that bring the era to life.
