Locked out

Sumud's mother, Nisa, spent 40 days in the West Bank while making any effort she can to reach the rest of her family in Gaza. After 14 days of unsuccessful attempts to return, she was permitted to enter through the border.

Stuck in Conflict

Sumud and her family, except for her mother, were stuck in Gaza when the conflict on Oct. 7 arose. They relocated multiple times to avoid the bombings.

Escape to survive

Through the Egyptian border, Sumud and her family were able to leave Gaza. After spending some time in Egypt, the family moved to the United States due to her father's job promotion.
