Look at all of the different types of clothes people are able to buy now! With industrialization on the rise, we have found ways to incorporate dyes into clothes for a variety of different colors. At my Lowell Factory, we can quickly produce many different types of clothes increasing the amount of people that can buy them. The excitement around these new clothes caused an increase in demand and with our new factory we can meet these demands, but this also led to an increase in the need for raw cotton.

Embroidery Options: Floral motifs, geometric patterns, or initials on clothing.

Textured Fabrics: Patterns such as herringbone, paisley, and floral prints.

SimuPlow

Phase 1: Guests (2-8 people )will start with 2 minutes to use a malfunctioning inefficient plow on grass-like terrain in order to feel the process that people had to go through to get their land plowed. Phase 2: Guests will now shift to the Steel Plow Sim, where they will now drag a lightweight, but similar, steel plow on the grass-like terrain to experience the degree to which the invention helped farming in the 19th century.Phase 3: Once both phases are complete, guests will receive a score for their performance with and without the steel plow. It will show the amount of land each method plowed and will add their score to the leaderboard.

The steel plow was a new farm implement that John Deere had devised to cut through the strong, sticky soil of the American Midwest without clogging. The polished steel blade of Deere's plow was unlike the earlier wooden or cast-iron ones and had helped farmers plow fields well, saving them much labor and time. This was an important invention because it caused prairies open up to widespread farming, helped in westward expansion, and agricultural growth in the 19th century. The steel plow was one of the most important keys in farming technology leading to modern farming methods.

Interchangeable Parts

Players step into a factory setting. Where they assemble various different products by searching for and locating standardized parts to fix/complete items. The game has time-based challenges where they must finish assembly before the time is up. As the players complete challenges they unlock new mini-games and historical facts that can aid in the upcoming challenges. While simultaneously learning about the history of interchangeable parts. The invention of interchangeable parts revolutionized manufacturing. Allowing products to be built from standardized components allows for unskilled workers to manufacture products. This greatly improved productivity and speed of production. This transformed the economy into one centered around goods in bulk. This fundamentally altered the relationship between human labor and machinery and paved the way for modern manufacturing.

The Reaper's Race

Phase 1: Guests (4 people) will initially start cutting up wheat bundles using hand-held scythes and blades. The amount of time to do so will be recorded. Phase 2: All the players will now ride a horse carrying a mechanical reaper. The same amount of bundles will be provided. The amount of time to do so will be recorded. The players will also get to know all about the mechanical reaper while riding on horseback into the wheat fields.Phase 3: Once both phases are complete, guests will see the amount of time for hand-held tools to cut up wheat bundles and the amount of time with the mechanical reaper.

The mechanical reaper, invented by Cyrus McCormick, was considered the most revolutionary tool that swept into agriculture by automating the processes of harvesting wheat and other crops. Previously, farmers could only cut grain by hand with scythes, a very slow and human-labor-intensive process. The reaper could cut a far greater proportion of grain in less time, thereby increasing total output. This change in agricultural technology enabled farmers to cultivate larger areas, meet growing food demands, and reduce crop losses from delayed harvesting. This had a huge role in the agricultural boom of the 19th century, as it coincided with western expansion because of the effects that mechanical reaping had on profitability and efficiency.

An agricultural invention of Eli Whitney, the cotton gin really transformed the cotton industry in the United States. It mechanized the very labor-intensive process of separating fibers off from their seeds and increased production efficiency, enabling one worker to process more cotton than by hand. The invention of the cotton gin encouraged the cultivation of cotton as a cash crop and gave a reason to have slavery in the South, where the large plantations would be enhanced due to the introduction of the innovation. The cotton gin played a critical role in the American economy, chainging it as it did. The Industrial Revolution will set up the South as the major player in the world market due to the impact of this innovation.

Telegraph

Welcome to Dot and Dash Delights, where the charm of the past meets the convenience of the present! This unique café immerses you in a delightful dining experience reminiscent of the 19th century. In this restaurant you get to experience the telegraph’s essence. With each table comes a vintage telegraph device that allows you to send orders to the kitchen using morse code. Each table also comes with a morse code guide to allow for customers to learn morse code while ordering or eating. The telegraph allowed for a speed of communication that had never been seen before. Previously letters took months or longer to arrive over long distances but with the invention of the telegraph came communication many times faster. The result of this was the creation of a nationwide trade network as now organizing long distance trade wasn’t reliant on unstable and slow communication.

Eli Whitney

I am Eli Whitney, born in 1765 in Massachusetts, where my hands found purpose in crafting and invention from a young age. My path led me to Yale, and then south, where I first saw the tedious labor involved in cotton production. Struck by the need for a faster method to process cotton, I applied myself to invent a machine that could separate the cotton fibers from the seeds with speed and precision. Thus, the cotton gin was born in 1793—a device I hoped would ease labor and advance agriculture. Though my creation brought rapid economic change to the South, it also brought challenges, as it would go on to shape the landscape of industry and society in ways I hadn’t foreseen. I can demo this piece of work and allow you to use it yourself if you are interested.

The steamboat was a development in the early part of the 19th century that revolutionized transportation and commerce in America. With their steam engines and paddlewheels, steamboats were capable of moving upstream against powerful currents, which opened quicker and more dependable trade routes along major rivers like the Mississippi. For the first time, goods and people were able to move back and forth between town and countryside more easily. This facilitated local economic development and expanded access to resources and markets. Gradually, the steamboats became the catalyst to westward expansion. Steam boats allowed settlers to go further into the interior and allowed settlers to expand agriculture and industry in most parts of America's interior.

Cumberland Road

This ride mimics the travels of the road at a much faster pace. Steep inclines and hills that simulate Appalachian terrain. Off to the side stand animatronics and houses that are used to mimic towns and settlements. You can expect thrilling drops and spins to give a feel for the travels on these roads. Finally at the end it takes you to the northern region of the park. To maintain accuracy with the real road. Welcome to the cumberland road rollercoaster(hopefully your last stop in the west). You will take a journey through the road that revolutionized trade. The cross country road will change trade in both scale and distance. It also further increased migration with people moving around which led to more goods flowing around across the country and caused an increase in settlements built around the road creating new urban centers. Which still stand today as important cities. This road was a pivotal moment in the history of the U.S.

Eerie Canal

Water Ride

Walk aboard Erie Canal where thrill meets the unknown! As you embark on this exciting water ride you will navigate sharp turns through the canal as we talk about the interesting history that backs this canal and how it was made. As you speed up at the straights you will see the background of the industrial revolution and why this canal is so important. Get ready for a ride like no other!

Anesthesia

Show on the new inventive product that can help with medical procedures. With the most revolutionary invention, the dream of pain relief is here. Come to our show where we explore the groundbreaking invention of anesthesia that will change the medical field forever. In the past surgery was synonymous with pain and could even lead to death from the pain, but using new technology we have created a numbing agent to allow for people to have more complex surgeries easier.

Samuel Morse

Samuel Morse walks around the west and can sometimes be seen potentially acting as a server at the telegraph based restaurant. He explains the invention of the telegraph and it's impact. These impacts include revolutionizing communication networks. This encompasses speed, scale, and ease of access. The communication speed greatly increased allowing fast communication in case of emergenies and creates a sense of national unity. The scale allows for large scale trade as organizations can communicate long distances to make sure their trade is well organized. The ease of acccess also increased as previously you would need to locate and find people who would carry your letters but now it's much easier to send information in a variety of places.

Revolver

A game that requires you to take on the role of a law enforcement officer. As you progress through the game more and more “criminals” pop up that must be shot before they “shoot” you. This game can be played both through a musket and revolver to teach the people about the significance of being able to fire multiple times before reloading. The game will also contain a score system that allows one to save and register scores that can be seen as goals for others to beat. The Revolver changed the trajectory of warfare and common life for americans. It led to a shift in weapons used in war and also a shift in war tactics for people as a gun that can fire multiple rounds without reloading would allow for faster warfare. It was also used in a civilian context as it led to the expansion of the west which grew the area and goods being traded in the U.S as the western front which was previously filled with outlaws was replaced with normal civilization.

Hello there! My name is Francis Cowbell Lowell. All of these textiles are made possible due to me. I built the first fully industrialized textile factory that takes raw cotton and turns it into finished goods in a single building.
