Strategies
Why is technology management important?
Technology management inside the classroom
Strategy #1
Software Tools Are Your Friend
Why choose this strategy
There is a tool for any and everything. One definition of a tool is an instrument used to help accomplish a task. Edtech tools are developed to make many aspects of education not only easier but more personalized and accessible. There are a wide variety of them to accomplish tasks from providing and tracking student assessment, increasing collaboration across geographical barriers, personalizing student learning, differentiating and facilitating instruction, increase engagement, device monitoring, and many more.
What does it look like in the classroom
Transform your classroom. Numerous applications can be used to transform your classroom setting, so do not be afraid to rely on useful tools. Examples of these tools being used in the classroom are an LMS to track student grades/progress as well as delivering instructional content, using Dyknow to monitor student devices during instruction, creating presentations through Canva to make them more interactive and engaging, using Zoom to collaborate with students or colleagues, using a digital whiteboard to present information, providing instruction through subject-specific educational applications, and so many more!

Strategy #2
Build In Breaks From Devices
Embrace technology, but schedule tech breaks. Building technology breaks into the lesson plan will allow students to engage with the material in a more hands-on way. This will allow for a deeper understanding of the content. It also gives the students time to not only take a break from a computer screen, but provides a chance to interact with others and allow a break for their brains to recharge while reducing digital fatigue. While technology can be a motivating force in education, student focus can still wander when performing work online. Allowing time away from their devices can help re-engage once the break has concluded.
Why choose this strategy
What does it look like in the classroom
Unplug from technology. The structuring of lesson plans to integrate technology and to also take appropriate breaks from technology plays a crucial part in student development. Educators can incorporate "tech-free" periods where students engage in alternate activities like discussions, group work, or written work. Teachers can also plan times involving technology use around activity periods such as PE or Art. Teachers could even go as far as incorporating more traditional learning days into their plans that are dedicated to conventional learning methods like using textbooks, taking notes by hand, completing worksheets, etc. This time allows this to not only take a digital break, but gives the students time to reflect on the information they have consumed.

Improves social interactions
How does it benefit students
Improves focus
Allows time for activities that encourage phyical movement & creativity
Teaches critial-thinking skills without relying on technology
Reduces digital fatigue
