  • His friend suggests using PowerPoint for an organized, visually appealing look.
  • PowerPoint can help make information clear and creative with design tools.
  • Mark likes the idea but isn’t sure where to start.
  • Let’s guide Mark in setting up his PowerPoint presentation.
  • Mark is interning at a local news channel.
  • His task is to survey natural disasters in Pennsylvania from the last decade.
  • He researches tornadoes, floods, and thunderstorms, along with their damages.

    • To add content:
  1. Add a slide with the Title and Content layout.
  2. Add a title to the slide.
  3. Add text to the slide.

Inserting Images into a PowerPoint Slide

  • There are multiple slide layouts that can be used in PowerPoint.
  • Follow the steps below to add a third slide formatted as a Picture with Caption.
  1. Select the Picture with Caption slide.
  2. Search for an image.
  3. Select an image.
  4. Add content to the slide.
  5. Add a slide title.

  • The formatting options available in PowerPoint are similar to Word and Excel.

Inserting Tables in PowerPoint

  • Tables in PowerPoint are helpful for presenting complex information in an organized way. They make it easier to understand and engage visually with the content.
  • The process is similar to what you did in Word:
    1. Insert tab
    2. Table
    3. Choose the dimensions of the table (how many rows and columns)

Formatting Tables in PowerPoint

  • After you have added a table to a PowerPoint slide and entered the necessary data, it becomes essential to format the table to make it visually appealing and easy to read.
    • changing font of the text in the table;
    • adjusting the cell margins in the table; and
    • adding borders and shading to the table.
