For countless displaced women and girls around the world, reaching safety isn't the end of their journey. It's the start of a new one. After escaping the horrors of war, violence, and persecution, they encounter fresh challenges — limited or no access to food, healthcare, education, income, and the need to rebuild their lives.

A refugee’s journey doesn’t stop with finding safety

Gloria is a soap-maker in Ugandan refugee settlements after fleeing war in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She now employs seven other women and teaches others business skills.

Rama is a Rohingya refugee who fled persecution in Myanmar and now works as a first aid and fire safety manager at Cox’s Bazar, the world’s largest refugee settlement in Bangladesh. Her role is to keep the camp safe.

Razia is a Kenyan refugee living in Uganda where she runs workshops on making reusable pads and educating on topics such as women's rights and family planning.

Ira came to Poland after the Russia-Ukraine war devastated her home and life. She now teaches Zumba classes at an inclusive community centre for minorities, a partner of Conflict Kitchen.
