SALT TRAY NUMBER WRITING

summary

Kindergarten students will be practicing mathematic skills writing numbers 0-20. Each student will get a small baking pan. Students will fill it up with salt. The teacher will give out flashcards to the students for guidance. Then the students will practice writing numbers from 0-20.

Anchor:

In this activity we will use anchor in two different ways. One way is personal experience. I have did this myself. Another way is students' exoerience. Possibly the students have experienced practicing writing things out in salt, sand, sugar, etc.

tASK:

In this activity task will be provided to the students. The teacher will provide information so students will know what is wanted from them to complete and what quality is expected.

Directions:

In this activity directions will be provided to the students. The teacher will cover what, how, and when.

Student choices:

In this activity, students will have choices on how many times they want to practice writing their numbers 0-20.

Students will explore and learn the numbers 0-20.

Collaboration and teamwork:

Students will practice writing their numbers individually and in groups.

TEACHER COACHING AND FEEDBACK WILL BE PROVIDED IN THIS ACTIVITY ALOT! The teacher can give advice, can help students stay on task, can provide extra guidance, and can help resolve issues amongst group members.

In this activity, student reflection will be showed by students reflecting on the acitivity. Students will answer questions from the teacher. An example would be like, Did you learn anything from the assignment?.

Public Presentation:

Students will show off their great work from writing the numbers in the salt to the class.

  1. Students will practice writing numbers out from 0-20.
  2. Students will receive flashcards to help guide them to write the numbers in the sand.
