VOLLEYBALL IN SPAIN
Volleyball is one of the most popular team sports in Spain. There are regular league and cup competitions, with different categories and in both men's and women's categories, in which teams from all over the country participate. Spanish volleyball takes part in different international competitions for both national teams and clubs. During the summer months, numerous popular beach volleyball competitions are practiced and organized, not only on the coastal beaches, but also in many inland towns.
Volleyball (initially under the name mintonette) was born on February 9, 1895 in the United States, in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Its inventor was William G. Morgan, a YMCA physical education director. It was an indoor team game with similarities to tennis or handball. Although close in its birth to basketball in time and space, it clearly distances itself from it in its rudeness, as there is no contact between the players.
Based on the fact that volleyball is a sport that is played with the hands and arms (although the ball can be touched with the whole body without holding it), between two teams of six players on the court, the objective is that the ball touch the floor inside the opposing team's area to score a point. Each team has three touches to pass the ball to the opposing field (no player can touch it twice in a row) and it is put into play with a throw-in. If the serving team wins the point at stake, add the point and continue serving. If the receiving team wins the point in play, it wins the point, recovers the serve and its players must rotate their positions clockwise (three of the players form the front line, in attacking tasks and the another three are placed behind, for defense). To win the point the ball must touch the floor, leave the court or not be returned respecting the playing conditions (make a foul). Penalties also score points for the opposing team.RULES:-Six players per team. -Each team can touch the ball three times per possession. -Players rotate positions after scoring a point. -The use of the entire body is allowed. -Players must hit the ball cleanly, retaining it is not allowed.
