Apartheid Apartheid was voted in 1948 it started in 1948 and ended in 1994 The rules : no marriage or relationship between white and non-white people. Separate places of living: white districts and non white districts separated public places : transport,hospitals ,bars,etc people from different races couldn’t live in the same street black people had to respect Apartheid signs Apartheid was a governmental policy in South Africa As for me black people were furious because they couldn't use the same public places As for me white people were happy as black people didn't have to use the same toilets

The opening scene took place on February 11th,1990 in South-Africa. Nelson Mandela was released after 27 years in prison. In the opening scene, we can see a motorcade. On the left of the road, there were white rugbymen while on the right of the road, there were black football players. They were separated by a fence symbolizing Apartheid, that's to say, the seperation between the Whites and the Blacks . The Whites liked rugby but the Blacks prefered football.
On july 18th,1918,Nelson mandela was born in a small village in the Eastern cape of south Africa . Nelson mandela became a lawyer in 1943. In 1944 Nelson Mandela married Evelyn Mase. They had 4 children . In 1958, Nelson Mandela married Winnie MadikiZela. They had 2 children . Nelson Mandela was arrested in 1962 he was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1964 . Nelson Mandela shared the nobel peace prize with Frederik de Clerk in 1993 . Nelson Mandela became president of South – Africa on april 27th. 1994 Nelson Mandela married again at the age of 80 years old in 1998 . Nelson Mandela retired from the public life at 85 years old in 2004 Nelson Mandela died in 2013 .

The dutch settled in 1652. They were the first europeans in South Africa. In 1795, the English also settled and began a war with the dutch from 1880 to 1899, they won the boer war in 1910. In 1948, the National Party won elections in South Africa and adopted Apartheid laws. In 1960, a lot of people protested against Apartheid, 69 of them where killed by the police. This moment was named the Sharpeville massacre. One day, in 1962, a black man was arrested and sent to jail for life, this man was Nelson Mandela. Fourteen years after, in 1976, at Soweto, High school students portested against Apartheid. In 1989, Frederik de klerk was elected and started to end Apartheid, he freed Nelson Mandela and announced the end of Apartheid in 1990. They shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. In 1994, A new president was elected, Nelson Mandela. He was the first black man to be elected in South Africa.
